If you're going on a Route 66 this place is a must-stay. Just the outside is worth a stop, but a room here is like stepping back in time. All of the furnishings are original, and in excellent condition. My room even had a WORKING ROTARY PHONE! I called everyone I know from that phone just because ROTARY PHONE. The owner I met with was super friendly, and we chatted a bit about Tucumcari and Route 66 overall. 10/10, would definitely stay here again! On a side note: I recommend reserving this well in advance, as I hear that it books up pretty quickly and often. I think I reserved my room about 4 months out, but I would guess that during prime season, you might want to book further in advance. I was there on New Year's Eve, but even then, I think they were fairly booked up.

Our stay at the Blue Swallow along historic Route 66 was absolutely fantastic! The charming decor, spotless rooms, and welcoming staff created a memorable experience. Nestled conveniently close to local attractions, it's the perfect retreat for both relaxation and exploration. The hotel's commitment to preserving the Route 66 legacy is commendable, and we loved every moment of our stay. Iconic. You can't drive Route 66 and not stay at the Blue Swallow Motel. Dawn & Rob are incredible hosts. Their love for the history of the place shines through as they give you a tour and some facts about the hotel when you check in and they show you to your room. Clean, cozy and comfortable all the way around. Great place to sit back, relax and prepare for the next leg of your Route 66 journey. Fun to meet fellow travelers as well. Details matter: having good tea available!

Very cool motel. Rob gave us a quick tour during check in that includes some history and in the morning he makes a mean pot of coffee. There are functioning garages *if* your car can fit. Heat was hot even though it was around freezing at night, and the hot water was great. They have laundry if you need it. Can walk to a couple of restaurants and bars. I definitely recommend staying here.

Was definitely a highlight on our Grand Canyon road trip. What a great experience. Owners made us feel like family. Teenage boys got to make calls on the rotary phone in the room. The family suite was perfect for family with two adult sized teenage boys. Beds were very comfortable.

Just might be the best place that I ever stayed! Not the biggest, not the fanciest but the most iconic. Original Route 66 charm, awesome owners and you will meet some of the best people ever by sitting in the motor court. Safe and close to resturants. I will now make a point to come back just to stay here!

Nice old time hotel, a must if you are interested in the Route 66!! Rob was very friendly and eager to help with anything we needed. The rooms were clean. They are somewhat original, with a few upgrades. We were in room #1. It was a little small, but just fine for the two of us. The bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. It was a fun stop off of Route 66!!

Traveling Route 66 and have been on the road many days and states longer and have stayed in plenty of hotels but THIS was by FAR my favorite and the best introduction to New Mexico! Amazing place, Rob is truly kind and generous and is a joy to talk to and it’s like taking a step back in time with the experience. HIGHLY recommend and then visiting Loretta’s up the road for the best meal I know I’ve had along this journey!
